Guidelines

The D.R.E.A.M Foundation Inc., one of the charitable arms of D.R.E.A.M Foundation, announces the 2019 D.R.E.A.M Foundation Scholarship Awards Program. 


Under the Program, three (3) $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to seniors attending a high school in East New York, Brownsville, or Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York served by D.R.E.A.M Foundation or where the Foundation has a presence. 


D.R.E.A.M Foundation strongly suggests that each high school present this opportunity to the strongest applicants that match this program’s guidelines. 


Three (3) Available Scholarships:

1.) East New York

One (1) $1,500 scholarship available in the East New York (CB #5) area of Brooklyn, NY for seniors attending high schools served by the D.R.E.A.M Foundation.


2.) Brownsville

One (1) $1,500 scholarship available in Brownsville (CB #16) area of Brooklyn for seniors attending high schools served by the D.R.E.A.M Foundation.


3.) Bedford Stuyvesant

One (1) $1,500 scholarship are available in Bedford Stuyvesant (CB #3) area of Brooklyn for seniors attending high schools served by the D.R.E.A.M Foundation.


Eligible Applicants:

  • Must be a graduating senior from a high school in East New York, Brownsville, or Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York that is served by D.R.E.A.M Foundation or where the Foundation has a presence
  • Must have a record of volunteerism in the community in non-school sponsored activities and participation in extracurricular school activities
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college or technical school.
  • Must have the endorsement of their high school Guidance Counselor on their application attesting they are a qualified fit for this scholarship program
  • Total family annual income must be under $75,000.


Relatives of the D.R.E.A.M Foundation Board of Director's are ineligible to apply.


Recipient Selection and Award Distribution:

The applications will be reviewed, and recipients selected by a committee consisting of volunteers from D.R.E.A.M Foundation. 


The scholarships will be awarded in June 2019.


Scholarship funds will be paid in August 2019/September 2019 for the first semester of the student’s first year directly to the college and not to the student. It will be the student’s responsibility to submit to the Foundation at that time an invoice for first semester tuition and fees, student ID number, and college information.

A complete application includes:


  1. an application with signoff by high school Guidance Counselor, 
  2. an essay submitted to the D.R.E.A.M Foundation, Inc.,
  3. a resume, and 
  4. an official high school transcript.

Application deadline is Monday, May 27, 2019 by 4:00 p.m. to be received in the Foundation. Late applications will not accepted.
